We all know how difficult it can be to wake up to the colder weather. It’s so tempting to stay warm and cosy in bed for ‘another 15 mins’, but braving the cold and making the most of your morning can have a positive effect on your day. The little things you do for yourself in the morning can add up your mental and physical health. So, we have compiled our top four tips to make the colder weather bearable.

Get your heart pumping.
The best thing we can do to wake up and warm ourselves up is to do a short form of exercise. This way, we don’t have to think about exercising for the rest of the day. There are a lot of great apps that offer at home exercises, or why not challenge yourself and hit the track.

Skip browsing social media.
Instead jump straight into the shower to wake yourself up. A colder shower will help bear the cooler air. It will mentally prepare you for the day and energise you physically. If you prefer to shower in the evenings, fill your time with stretching instead of catching up on emails.

Don’t skip breakfast.
Winter is the perfect time to indulge in some delicious breakfast foods. With just one ingredient alone, such as oats, you can make a variation of healthy oatmeal recipes to warm you up. If you don’t have time to make breakfast, prepare it from the night before.

Prioritise your skin.
It is essential you look after you skin in the mornings, the air can be cool and dry which leads to flaking and dehydrated skin. A skincare routine with nourishing ingredients is essential to keep your skin glowing and hydrated over the winter. If you don’t know what skin type you are or what products would suit you, it’s best to visit a skin consultant.
